A natural pool in your own garden brings chemical-free bathing pleasure and joy into your life. More and more pool owners are jumping on this trend. They consciously do without chemical additives. For their own sake and for the sake of the environment. For them, a natural bathing experience in biologically treated water is the highest of feelings. By building a natural pool, you are opting for healthy swimming pleasure and pure nature. The advantages of a classic pool are enhanced by natural plus points. The differences are not always obvious at first glance. Both natural pools and chemical pools have a separate swimming area with a clear view of the bottom of the pool. The associated regeneration area disappears under the patio cover. And yet a natural pool has a lot more to offer. Let's take a brief look at the core elements.
Biologically purified water thanks to filter technology
Wonderfully clear and natural water caresses the skin. No chlorine smell. No chemical cocktail. In a natural pool, the water is purified with the help of a biological gravel filter, completely free of chemicals. The natural pool system represents a flowing natural body of water. The water circulates permanently through the gravel body. The biofilm settled in the filter extracts nutrients from the water and the crystal-clear water flows back into the swimming area. When the biofilm is saturated, the filter body is cleaned with the help of a backwash. Due to the biological cleaning, the water remains naturally alive. Plants are not needed for water purification. If any are desired, then only for decorative purposes. You can find more detailed information in our article: How does a natural pool work? The filter technology.
The natural pool made of wood - sustainable and ecological
Anyone who wants to make their pool oasis even more natural, sustainable and ecological is welcome to do so. With a natural pool made of wood. For our Holc natural pools, we only use wood from certified forestry. The wooden body and the patented system allow for unique bathing experiences. The surface feels pleasantly velvety. And the lifelong guarantee on the wooden body speaks for itself, it brings joie de vivre for many decades.
Size, shape and equipment depend on the individual use of the natural pool. The choice of size depends primarily on the personal preferences of the pool user and the local conditions in the garden.
Whether it is a plunge pool, a swimming channel or a separate swimming area in a lake or pond, whether it has a shallow water zone or is architecturally straightforward: there are many design options for the construction. The swimming area takes up most of the space required. The filter area is much smaller in comparison.
The equipment options are also extensive. From the various entry and cover options to the underwater sound system, there is a considerable selection of additional equipment available to the natural pool enthusiast. For all year-round swimmers, the water in the natural pool can also be heated up to 37 °C with an air heat pump.
The care and maintenance of a natural pool
Our natural wooden pools are easy to clean and require little maintenance. The biofilter cleans the water without any intervention on our part. And a little regular maintenance is enough to keep the wooden pool in perfect shape for many decades: The floor and walls are cleaned twice a week with a pool robot. Coarse debris from the surrounding garden, such as leaves, is removed regularly with a landing net. And the gravel filter is backwashed two to three times a year, depending on the intensity of bathing and the environmental inputs. In general, the natural pool is only filled once. A water change is generally not necessary. Only the water that evaporates or is pumped out during backwashing is refilled.
